On the Mechanism of Acoustic Losses in the Hydroxylated Surface Layer of Silica Glass

Abstract

Dissipated processes in hydroxylated surface silica glass layer were researched experimentally. Presence of adsorbed chemically water in surface micropores was established. Water molecules connected with silicon by coordinate bond make the most contribution in the dissipated process.
