The aluminium interaction with cobalt and titanium

Abstract

The aim of present investigation is studying of aluminium interaction with Co and Ti by construction of isothermal (at 6000C) and polythermal sections. The experiment was carried out by X-ray, X-ray microprobe, microstructure, differential thermal analysis’s and microhardness and hardness measurements. It was established, that between intermetallics Al3Ti and Al9Co2 the interaction by eutectic type with limited components solubility is realized; but in other case, as a result of AlCo and TiCo interaction, the ternary compound AlCo2Ti is formed. For a first time, in present research the temperatures, ways of formation and boundaries of homogeneity regions of ternary compounds Al15Co8Ti6 and AlCo2Ti were determined.
