Electrochemical syntheses of polyphenilethylens in room-temperature ionic liquids

Abstract

Electrochemical oxidation of benzene in room-temperature ionic liquids on the base of complex N - butylpyridiniumchloride and AlCl3 ([PyBuCl]Al2Cl6) under controlling potential on platinum and glassycarbon composite (GlC) electrodes electrodes was studied. Linear polymers (degree of polymerization was 8 – 120) were obtained as products. It was shown that the degree of polymerization is increasing in according with electrodes potential. The characterization of reaction products was performed using FTIR spectroscopy.
