Effect of Srong Electrolyte in Elutriating Agent on Retention of Phosphorus and Silicon Heteropoly Acids in Ion-Pair RP High Performance Liquid Chromatography

Abstract

The influence of cations nature, nature and concentration of anions in strong electrolytes, addded to eluent, on chromatographic behaviour of molibyc and tungstenic heteropolyacids of Si and P in ion-pair RP HPLC was investigated. Mightysil-RP18 (column 150x4,6 mm) was used as reverse-phase sorbent, the mixture of CH3CN-H2O (60:40), with added tetrabythylammonium bromide (TBAB) as ion-pair agent, strong acids as protonic source, strong electrolytes (sodium perchlorate, potassium, sodium and lithium nitrate, sodium sulphate), was used as eluent. Detection was spectrophotometric at 310 (molybdic acids) and 270 nm (tungstenic acids). The optimal conditions for simultaneous determination of tungstenic heteropolyacids f Si and P are: 60% CH3CN, 0,4 mM TBAB; 0,02 M NaClO4, 0,036 M HCl. The separation of molibdenic acids of Ge and Si was reached.
