Instrumental and Systematic Errors of the Vapour Pressure Measurements with the Quartz Bourdon Gage

Abstract

The setup for vapour pressure measurements has been described. Sensitivities and statistical estimates of instrumental errors in vapour pressure measurements have been determined for three quartz Bourdon gauges up to 740°.
The thermal drift of the zero point of these gauges has been investigated. The thermal drift of the zero point has been shown to be the main source of systematic errors in pressure measurements at elevated temperatures. A method for vapour pressure measurements with regard to the zero point thermal drift has been suggested. Minimal possible errors with account of the zero point thermal drift have been estimated to be in the range of 0.6-6 Torr at the confidence level 0.95.
