Interaction of Methane with Hydrogen Peroxide in the Xenon Matrixes

Abstract

Products of reaction between methane and hydrogen peroxide were investigated in low temperature matrixes of xenon by the method of IR-spectroscopy. It was shown that the first product of matrix reaction without a catalyst was a low connected complex 1:1. It slowly transformed in formaldehyde and water at 78 K. The use of Ni clasters as a catalyst gave a big number of absorption bands in IR-spectra in a few hours at 78 K. These bands were assigned to different peroxide intermediates.
