Kinetic Description of Pulsed Supersonic Current Exhausting into Vacuum. I. Monatomic Gas

Abstract

The Boltzmann equation for supersonic impulse jet of a monoatomic gas expanding into vacuum has been solved with the use of the 13 moment approximation of the Grad method. The corrections to the jet parameters were obtained, which are due to the finiteness of the Knudsen number of source. The calculations were made for some model situations.
