Interference of anions in on-line sorption-ion chromatography determination

Abstract

A technique for investigation of interference of anions in on-line sorption-ion chromatography determination was proposed. This technique includes the choice of mathematical model for describing the sorption dynamics, calculation of thermodynamic and kinetic properties of ion sorption in the given system, plotting of sorption isotherms of microcomponent in a wide range of concentrations of interfering macrocomponents. This technique was used for investigation of sorption of nitrate in presence of sulphate and hydrocarbonate ions. It was shown that nitrate sorption dynamics is adequately described by model of external diffusion. The data obtained were used for forecast of dependence of recovery levels of nitrate on volume of sample containing sulphate ions. The accuracy of the forecast was proved experimentally.
