The example of the situational radiological analysis (incident with Polonium-210)

Abstract

In the paper the data about nuclear, physical, chemical and radiobiological properties of polonium - 210 are summarized, the features of incorporation, transport and deposition of a radionuclide in different human organs are reviewed. The formation of a dose of a-radiation using RBE=3 for the determined effects from the position of formal dosimetry of incorporated radionuclides is reviewed. The radiological analysis of a situation concerning the poisoning with polonium - 210 in London is conducted. The radioactivity of a radionuclide for creation of lethal effect - from 0.012 till 0.36 GBq is estimated at the uniinstantly peroral introducing, and also the formal capability of detection of the person - carrier of polonium - 210 according to the excreta and g-radiation using whole-body counters is reviewed.
