Extraction of nitrates of alkali and alkaline earth metals with crown ether into hydrophilic ionic liquid in the presence of salting-out agent

Abstract

It was shown that the hydrophilic ionic liquid N-butyl-4-methylpyridinium tetrafluoroborate (BMPTF) is suitable for the extraction of metal ions with dicyclohexano-18-crown-6. Magnesium sulphate was used as salting-out agent, providing the formation of two immiscible phases in the system ionic liquid – water. The pH profiles of the extraction of alkali and alkaline earth metals have been determined; the influence of salting-out agent concentration on the recoveries has been investigated.
