Phasesaand b of the Al–Mn–Si System

Abstract

The fields of homogeneity and the crystal structures of threefold a and b phases on the basis of Al9Mn2Si and Al9Mn3Si at 823 K were investigated by methods of scanning electronic microscopy, X-ray and electron probe microanalysis. It was established that the a phase is formed in the field 7,4–15,9 at. % Si at manganese concentration ~18 aт. %. The bphase has area of homogeneity from 3,7 to 18,5 at. % Si and settles down in parallel Al–Si side at concentration of manganese 24–26 at. %. The fragment of isothermal section of the Al–Mn–Si system in the field of the alloys rich with aluminum was constructed.
