Synthesis and termal stability of heterometallic coordination compounds as precursors of rare earth element nicelates

Abstract

Solvent influence on the solid products composition was investigated by example of REE nitrates and square-planar complexes of nickel(II) with Schiff bases Ni(SB) interaction. The composition of solid REE-Ni heterometallic products was investigated by X-ray fluorescent analysis and elemental (C, H, N) analysis. It was shown that heterometallic complexes could be obtained in individual state from labile Ln(NO3)3 – Ni(SB) systems, and in case of more dentate ligands, Ni(mosalen), only bimetallic compounds are formed. The trimetallic complexes were obtained in the case of Ni(salen) via solvent selection. The bimetallic complexes are of interest due to the possibility of their use as REE nickelates precursors.
