Approaches to increase the sensitivity of the determination of phenolic compounds using the solid-phase optical biosensors based on chitosan

Abstract

It has been shown that varying the conditions of sorption of the products of phenolic compounds oxidation allows increasing thesensitivity of phenols determination using the chitosan-based opticalbiosensors. The isotherms of sorption of the phenolic compounds oxidation products into chitosan were described by Langmuir and Freundlich types of equations. The following sorption characteristics were determined: maximum sorption capacity, Langmuir isotherm constant, Gibbs free energy and others.
Key words: solid-phase optical biosensor, chitosan, sorption, phenolic compounds.
