Intracavity laser spectroscopy of the molecule HfCl. analysis of the rotational structure of the new bands 2δ–x2δ of the electronic transition

Abstract

The electron absorption spectrumof the molecule HfCl in the 550–800 nm regionby intracavity laser spectroscopy. HfCl molecules were prepared by impact of a pulsed electric discharge through a mixture of vapor and HfCl4 and He. Cell with the gas mixture was placed in the cavity of the dye laser. The spectra were recorded witha diffraction spectrograph (resolved power 240000). The high sensitivity of the intracavity method allowed us to detect the new bands with resolved rotational structure in the HfCl spectrum. Rotational analyses of these bands were performed and the molecular constants were determined.
Key words: HfCl, intracavity laser spectroscopy, rotational analysis, molecular constants.
