SERS enhancement by surface wave in photonic crystal

Abstract

We propose a method of SERS enhancement by surface wave at a photonic crystal/vacuum interface. The enhancement is due to the local field enhancement in the surface wave. Numerical methods predict three orders of magnitude increase in sensitivity of SERS methods.
